Kalaghoda Arts Festival 2018.

Hiiiii. This is my first time writing a blog and I’ve got something to share with y’all. This year I decided to visit Kalaghoda Arts Festival. This year’s theme was “Hara Ghoda” and there were various art installations, stalls for every kids and adults. It started on 2nd Feb and ends on 10th February.

I went on the 7th day of the festival so the place was very crowded but I still somehow managed to click some pretty pictures of the art installations. Here are some of them!

I am That I Am.

This art installation is called “The Tree of Eternity” and is made of mirror to prove the fact that life is like a mirror and it will show the viewer what he/she thinks into it.

The Element Earth.

In this installation, the artist depicts the simple yet complex mother Earth by the use of various abstract elements such as the automobile scrap part thus giving a purpose to it otherwise they are covered in grease and not looked upon.

Aparshakti.

The embroidery hoops that hanged on the branches have different types of silk fabrics stretched over them. The art is done using acrylic paint using brushes.

Embodying National Unity.

The installation embodies our natural unity. This installation represents India’s map while it’s demographics are portrayed through the water as the elements of nature and drops show communal harmony.

Kalpavriksha.

This installation depicts a metaphorical representation of mystical Kalpavriksha tree. The consequent spinning of the base and modules depict the cyclic nature of the creation. These forces of nature come together to give birth or create biotic sphere.

Skywards.

This installation represents the results of our relentless dreams, houses scrambling on top of one another, slums making their way up to the skies. This sculpture comments on how concrete overpowers greenery.

There were many other magnificent art installations but those weren’t the only things in the festival. There were many stalls like orient ceramics, paper crafts and arts and many more selling fascinating items which were worth buying! Also, on various days there were many stand up comedy shows, music performances, dance shows, literature, culinary workshops, children’s activities and craft exhibition.

This festival is an amazing place to have quality time admiring beautiful art and also enjoying the various performances everyday.
